IMEX Technical Services have been working with Gavin Jones Ltd in the role of outsourced IT provider for a number of years.

During an IT infrastructure review it became clear that Gavin Jones had become increasingly reliant on their corporate email system as a means of business organisation and communication.

Their current system also did not offer the scalability required to sufficiently cope with ongoing business growth. In addition, Gavin Jones were keen to increase availability of email and collaboration services to employees who were not primarily based at their head office.

To address the scalability requirement and to accommodate significant growth in the amount of messaging data, IMEX proposed to implement Microsoft Exchange 2007 Server running on Microsoft Windows 2008R2 Server utilising HP Proliant hardware.

The Exchange Server would also run within a Hyper-V virtual server environment to allow for greater flexibility, resilience and future change.
IMEX were able to integrate the new Exchange Server platform in to the existing messaging environment allowing data and services to be migrated seamlessly, resulting in minimal downtime for end users. Additionally, IMEX installed Microsoft ISA Server 2006, which in conjunction with Exchange 2007 Server, allowed for remote availability of messaging and collaboration services through Outlook Web Access, Active Sync and Outlook Anywhere technologies.

IMEX also consulted on the use of mobile email devices (HTC Windows mobile in this case) to improve email availability to roaming users. They were also able to significantly reduce their mobile communication costs through our mobile telephony partner.

Gavin Jones messaging system now has the increased capacity required, is more scalable, flexible and offers improved recovery time objectives in the event of a disaster. The latest HP Proliant server hardware also provides ongoing cost savings through lower total cost of ownership.

Employees are now able to securely access email, calendars and organisational information via a multitude of devices regardless of location, offering greater productivity and efficiency across the entire business.
